How To Pin Folders To Windows Start Menu Posted: 23 Jun 2011 12:49 AM PDT Posted on One Tip A Day - What Will You Learn Today? The Windows Start Menu is a good place to pin all those programs that you use quickly, but it can quickly get filled up if you’re a heavy user. One way to create more space is to pin folders to the Windows Start Menu, so that you can group your programs into sensible groups. Out of the box Windows doesn’t have this functionality, but it’s easy to add in just two clicks. This tweak works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7; it won’t work if you are using the classic start menu. To add the tweak manually:
If you don’t want to mess around with registry entries, just download the file below. Once unzipped, click on pinfolder.reg to install the tweak and click yes twice. To uninstall, click on undo.reg. Once you’ve added the tweak, find the folder you want to pin and hold down the Shift key and then right-click on the folder. To create your own custom folders, go to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and create your new folder which will then appear in your Start Menu. To download the reg tweak, click here. Related posts:
